This past Saturday, my real estate team put on a home buying seminar at the Public Library in Perry Hall, MD. A big thanks to MBA Mortgage who not only participated in the seminar, but played a major role in organizing the event.
We covered many topics about the home buying process. Some of the highlights included:
Getting Pre Approved for a Mortgage
This is a crucial step that you must complete at the beginning of the process. Finding out how much you qualify for, and what type of loan program you will need to finance your purchase are discussed at this stage.
House Hunting
Where do you want to live? What kind of house do you want? What amenities do you want to include? These questions (and more) are asked and answered before your Realtor takes you out to look at prospective homes.
Making An Offer
Once you have found that dream home…you must make the seller an offer. Your Realtor will play a major role here and will guide you through the process.
Home Inspections
Your offer will most likely be contingent on having the house inspected by a certified Home Inspector. Inspections typically cost a few hundred dollars, but can save you from financial disaster.
Settlement
At the end of the process, you will sign all required paperwork, make any payments due, and receive the keys to your new home.
….
We had a great turn out for a rainy Saturday morning. Although the home buying seminar was not limited to just first time buyers, there were several renters who were looking to make their first real estate purchase. The audience was engaged throughout the entire presentation and almost everyone in attendance stayed after to ask questions and seek help with their own home search.
We are looking forward to hosting another home buying seminar later this year!
